ASCONA…I miss you already!

I must confess…

When I booked my trip to Locarno I wasn’t really into visiting ASCONA. I was more like…”if I can’t find a hotel in Locarno, I’ll stay in Ascona and drive daily to Locarno”…way of thinking. Well guess what? I stayed in Locarno and drove everyday to ASCONA for the beach, sightseeing and chill out with my daughter. Really nice little cozy town, total fit for this summer mini vacation!

You can walk the little town in a short amount of time. Great restaurants, galleries and museums, just as Locarno offers! They have shopping! Great shopping! When I say shopping, I mean, nice fancy shopping. All I saw one after another were boutiques carrying top of the line Designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Valentino, Armani, Burberry, Ralph Lauren…to name a few! But the one thing that took me by surprise (ASCONA is a very small town) was the 18 championship holes their Golf Club offers. If you’re into Golf, this would be paradise because it’s right by Laggo Maggiore.

Ascona is definitely a place to vacation, especially if you decide to bring your children. Locarno offers the same as well, but for some reason we loved spending the time in ASCONA. It could be because we came during The Locarno’s International Film Festival, world known event that people come to watch movies in a gigantic screen placed right in the middle of the Piazza Grande. It’s a very unique atmosphere at night! Plus, you get to spot famous actors and directors! But we were not into spending any time for this event, instead, it was more a family vacation that really turned special for us. We were very pleased with our visit to ASCONA.

Here are some of the snapshots I took during our stay there…

Kid’s playground! It has a Go-Cart mini track and they also have a children’s Bungee Trampoline next to the park. These are all alongside the Boardwalk…nice!

I love spending time everyday in ASCONA, at their public beach, walking the Boardwalk and doing some shopping while enjoying a nice gelato. Very relaxing!

I leave you with this video of a song I was playing in the car on my way to ASCONA….it has NOTHING to do with ASCONA but it was the song I was listening to, so I must describe it as it happened while driving to ASCONA from LOCARNO. So, hope you like the song!
